2a-Seminar : Planning and Organization of Web Pages

Length: 2 hours

Learning Objective: Upon successful completion of the Planning and Organization of Web Pages seminar, the learner will be able to:

  • define and describe the audience and their needs
  • clearly identify the goals for the website
  • identify critical issues for website sustainability
  • describe ways to increase effective utilization
  • plan mechanisms for user feedback

Description: This seminar will review scope of websites and site structure. Implementation usability and testing will be presented. Learners will have an opportunity to apply criteria for evaluating websites.

Questions to be considered include:

  • Are built-in search mechanisms appropriate?
  • What expectations do your users have for quality, accuracy, comprehensiveness, and timeliness?
  • Who will keep your publication timely and complete?
  • How will you receive feedback from your users?
  • How will a user needing assistance with your information obtain that assistance?
  • What makes a website "usable" in terms of content, graphics, navigation and other elements?
