Institutional Review Board (IRB) Process & Policy

Target Audience: UME Educators & Specialists

Length: 1 hour

Learning Objective: Faculty will become familiar with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) general policies and application process for conducting research with human subjects. The new UM online training, CITI, will also be introduced with directions about completion.

Mr. Joe Smith, IRB Manager for the University of Maryland will present and answer questions. Ms. Teresa McCoy, UME IRB Dept. Liaison, will provide direction regarding the submission of IRB applications.

Core Competencies addressed are Knowledge of the Organization, Professionalism, Technical/Subject Matter Expertise.
