Mr. Naod B Hailegiorgies
Agricultural Technician Lead
Plant Science & Landscape Architecture
- I assist Dr.William Kenworthy, Professor and PSLA Chair, in his research projects on Soybean Breeding and Genetics.
- I enjoy every moment of my career. In my job, there is a season for everything: a time to work in the Lab, a time to work in the green house, a time to plant on the field, a time to cross plants, a time to harvest soybeans, a time to process samples...and a time to recycle almost everything. It's fun. That is why you see me smiling even when I am tired.
- My recent training in Biotechnology (Laboratory practices on DNA analysis) was a preview of my dream career. After the training, I got an internship award to work at Dr. Gary Coleman biotechnology lab at UMD for about six weeks.
- I am now working towards my MS Degree in Bioinformatics at UMUC.
- I got my MS Degree in Plant Pathology (Wheat) in 2004, and published a couple of papers like Sources of Resistance to Stem Rust (Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici) in Ethiopian Tetraploid Wheat Accessions. and a short communication.
- I worked on Wheat Breeding and Pathology in Ethiopia for more than six years, and did pretty good job like writing a 54 page Plant Pathology Handbook in 2005 for the use of extension agents in Ethiopia.
- I taught myself the basics of web page designing. I am now learning PHP and MySQL programming (Server Side Script Languages), so that I can build my dream website.Needless to say i have my own blog Naod Live in my native language (Amharic). ??? ?. ???????? Just a hobby!
- The best moment of my everyday life is when I find myself helping my two sons doing their homework. I feel alive and refreshed when they say "You are the best dad in the whole wide world!". What a responsibility! Oh Help me God!
