As Network Administrator, Chris' role has evolved over the years. His current duties include:
Other duties include web conferencing and video conferencing support, multimedia creation, various levels of desktop and network support, and general problem-solving when applying technology to a task.
Prior to working at the University, Chris was a Public Computing Specialist at Middlebury College in Vermont, where he managed nearly 200 Macintosh and Windows-based PC's in a teaching environment. He then worked on a contract-basis for the USDA/CSREES (now known as NIFA - National Institute of Food & Agriculture) in Washington, DC, as a computer technical support specialist.
A Project Management Institute certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Chris holds a Masters of Science in Information Technology, an MBA, and most recently, a Graduate Certificate in Project Management, all from the University of Maryland University College. He also attended the University of Vermont, graduating in 1995 from the College of Arts and Sciences with a BA in Spanish Language and Literature with a Minor in Latin American Studies, and he earned a Professional Certificate in PC Networking and Support from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, in 1998. Chris is also a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional. His hobbies include working on and driving his 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1, cruise vacations, SCUBA diving, reading, music, home repair projects, and watching movies. He lives in Laurel, MD with his wife, stepson, a mild-mannered cat and two crazy dogs.
