Useful information about: good web design and navigation; information architecture; and search engine optimization.
Make sure every web page you create has:
- an identifying header consistent with other pages on the site;
- navigation aids (bar, tabs, etc.);
- location information (bread crumbs);
- an informative title (which becomes the text of any bookmark to the page);
- the creator's identity (author or institution)
- a list of links to various sections of the article;
- heads and subheads every several paragraphs;
- text written in chunks of information;
- lots of links to local pages within the site and links to other sites on the web;
- information or a link to information about the author;
- a creation or revision date;
- a direct link to the website editor or webmaster;
- a mechanism that allows the viewer to give feedback.
