SUBJECT: New Federal Requirement: Use of a Universal Identifier on Grant Applications

Recently, the Office of Management and Budget has directed federal agencies to require all Federal grant applicants to provide a Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number when applying for grants and cooperative agreements effective October 1, 2003. The DUNS number is required for new, continuations, renewals and supplemental applications.

The University of Maryland College Park DUNS No. is 790934285. This number is to be inserted on the grant application cover page where indicated. In instances where no cover page has been provided by the federal sponsor, the DUNS No. may be inserted in the institutional authorized signature section.
