Description:
A post-doctoral fellowship is available immediately to assist in our multidisciplinary studies of lipid, protein and membrane trafficking in mammary epithelial cells. Our long-term goals are to define molecular mechanisms underlying the targeting and secretion of milk-lipid droplets and protein using cell and molecular biological techniques [Ogg et al. (2004) PNAS, 101, 10084-10089]. The successful applicant will investigate the potential roles of butyrophilin and xanthine oxidoreductase in the secretion of milk-lipid droplets by generating transgenic mouse strains. Opportunities exist for collaborations within the University, as well as with the USDA, NIH, and other area research institutes.
