FACULTY EXTENSION ASSISTANT (FEA)
Non-Tenure Track (12 Month Contract)
University of Maryland Cooperative Extension; The person will work with the State’s leadership development program (LEAD Maryland Foundation, Inc.) serving the agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.
Location: This position will be housed at the Wye Research & Education Center, Queenstown, MD
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop program curriculum. Plan, implement, attend and lead a series of multi-day seminars and study tours for program participants. Seminars will be held at various locations throughout Maryland, study tours in Washington DC, international locations, and possibly other locations throughout the United States.
- Develop continuing educational opportunities for program alumni and other emerging leaders who seek leadership training.
- Coordinate seminar needs by event planning with conference centers, hotels, caterers, bus companies, etc.
- Communications with the executive director regarding assigned projects, calendar planning, policies, etc. of the LEAD Maryland Foundation, Inc., and with the University of Maryland College Park and Maryland Cooperative Extension.
- Communications with program participants and others;
- Continued education, development and training. (This is training the FEA will receive to acquire new skills that may be applied through the leadership program.) Strive to be certified to use and teach assessment instruments such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and other training tools.
Qualifications:
Required–
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Two years experience in leading training sessions, developing adult training curriculum, and in event planning. Must have excellent communications skills and the ability to write effectively, and manage project budgets.
- Strong computer skills required WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings & weekends, and must be willing to travel within Maryland, nationally and internationally.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Organizational and time management skills, and attention to details are important.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel throughout state.
Preferred–
- Preferred area of study is in education (agriculture, extension and/or adult), leadership development, public policy or a related field of study.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary will commensurate with experience, with a base salary of $35,000 per year. Position is a non-tenure track, 12-month contract that may be renewed annually, pending annual funding. The University of Maryland offers limited benefits.
